Salvete! Welcome!

Welcome to the Kecoughtan Latin Club web page.  Here you will be able to find information about the club and its activities through the year.

The Latin Club will hold its first meeting on September 23 at 3:15.  Regular meetings will be held on white day Wednesdays, with extra meetings scheduled as necessary.

You may officially join the Club before the first meeting.  We will elect officers at the first meeting on September 23.

On Saturday September 26 from noon until 2:00 P.M., the Club will participate in a kick-off picnic in Warrior Park with the other foreign language clubs.  All members are encouraged to be there.

At this website you can print the Latin Club membership form and decide what you would like to include with your membership.

Design the Club’s t-shirt with the new JCL theme.

Become a 2009-2010 Latin Club officer!

Elections for Latin Club offices will be held in September.  All officers are expected to participate in a minimum of 2/3 of the club meetings and activities each month.  One waiver can be earned by wearing a club t-shirt three times in a month.  Officers who do not meet the requirement will be replaced during the second month of their absence.  Officers are also expected to arrive at meetings on time.  Excessive tardiness will be counted as an absence.

The following positions are available:

President (presides over meetings)

Vice President (arranges club functions)

Secretary (advertises meetings and keeps attendance records)

Treasurer (checks and totals receipts; helps with paperwork)

Historian (completes state scrapbook)

Public service project coordinator (this may include being captain of the team’s Relay for Life team)

Two VJCL voting delegates (must attend state convention; these may hold other offices as well)

Executive committee (various tasks)

All officers are expected to each plan or assist with one activity for the club and to participate both in fundraising for general club expenses and public service projects.  All officers should plan on attending state convention in November, and all will be able to do fundraising to reduce the expenses.

Members of the Kecoughtan Latin Club are automatically members of the Virginia Junior Classical Leaugue.  This is the organization that sponsors the legendary state convention.

All members of the Kecoughtan Latin Club are also members of the Narional Junior Classical League.
